Let me start by saying that this site is actually hosted on HostGator and I used a promo code to get that hosting, so I am a little biased. HostGator is one of the better companies I’ve ever dealt with professionally. These days, most hosting companies offer more or less similar products. In general, it is difficult to distinguish between them. I have used numerous hosts over the years, some good, and some bad. With very few exceptions, it is nearly always annoying and frustrating and many times completely fruitless.

HostGator is one of those exceptions. Everything is prompt. Everyone that I’ve talked to not only knows what they are doing but is empowered to actually help you without talking to a manager. As far as their coupons, HostGator only offers them on their hosting packages, which obviously is their core business. The one that can be found almost anywhere you look on the web these days is the first month for $.01. It is actually a bit misleading. It is not actually the first month for $.01 but up to $9.94 off for any hosting plan, depending on the price. If the price is $9.95 per month or less, you will pay $.01 but if it is more, you will only get $9.94 off. I don't recommend using this promo, there are almost always better coupons out there.

Besides the first month for $.01 cent coupon code, there is usually also a promo code for either a percentage off or a certain number of dollars off, or both. In most cases, these will be the larger discount. We are constantly updating our coupons, so don't just use someone's first month for 1 cent promo code, there are almost always better savings available than that.

As I said, I am actually hosting this site on HostGator right now, so of course I would recommend them. They are not always the very cheapest host, but with the coupons that they offer, they are competitively priced and believe me, in hosting, you get what you pay for.
